During one semester, we developed a Blender project focused on a self-chosen theme. In other modules, we conducted user studies on the potential applications of autonomous buses and vehicles. Our research identified a valuable use case: using autonomous buses as a means of transport for travelers with mobility impairments, children, or those with heavy luggage. This would be particularly useful in facilitating platform changes at future megastations like Stuttgart 21 or the planned new Munich station.
To support our user studies, we decided to create a scene in Blender where an autonomously designed bus smoothly transports passengers and luggage from point A to B. We paid special attention to the storage and space distribution options within the bus, ensuring they are easy to use, as passengers won’t spend much time inside the vehicle.
